Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants

SWIN Industries provides customised lifting, maintenance and confined-space rescue equipment for sewage treatment plants, water treatment plants, effluent treatment plants, pumping stations and other water-management facilities.

Our electric winches, manual hand winches and portable davit arms are used for lifting pumps, motors, agitators, screens and other equipment from tanks, pits and chambers. Confined-space davit arms and rescue tripods can also be supplied for planned entry, personnel retrieval and emergency rescue applications.

Suitable SWIN Products

Portable and Trolley-Mounted Davit Arms

Portable davit arms can be designed for lifting pumps, motors and maintenance equipment from tanks and chambers. Trolley-mounted arrangements allow the lifting system to be moved between different operating locations within the plant.

Manual or electric winch operation; fixed or telescopic boom; portable, trolley-mounted or fixed-base design; required boom outreach and lifting height; rotating mast arrangement; mild steel, hot-dip galvanised, SS304 or SS316 construction.

Electric Winches

Industrial electric winches can be supplied for frequent lifting and pulling applications where controlled operation and reduced manual effort are required.

The winch can be customised according to lifting capacity, wire-rope diameter and length, operating speed, lifting height, motor and gearbox arrangement, brake system, control panel and operating environment.

Manual Hand Winches

Manual spur gear and worm gear winches are suitable for occasional operation, standby lifting and locations where electrical power is unavailable or unnecessary.

Confined Space Davit Arms

Portable confined-space davit arms can support personnel entry, retrieval and rescue from manholes, wet wells, tanks, pits and underground chambers.

Confined Space Rescue Tripods

Rescue tripods provide a portable overhead anchoring and retrieval arrangement for vertical entry into manholes and other confined spaces.

Customised to Suit the Site

Every treatment plant has different tank dimensions, access platforms, railings, lifting heights and installation constraints. General arrangement drawings and technical specifications can be prepared based on the approved project requirement.

Safe working load
Pump or equipment weight
Required boom outreach
Required lifting height
Available operating space
Platform and railing arrangement
Portable or fixed installation
Number of lifting locations
Material of construction
Manual or electric operation

Project Application

The photographs show a SWIN portable trolley-mounted davit arm with an electric winch being used at a water and wastewater treatment facility.

The mobile arrangement allows the davit system to be positioned near different tank locations for equipment lifting and maintenance while reducing the need to install a separate lifting system at every point.

Application and Safety Note

Davit arms intended for lifting pumps and equipment must be treated separately from confined-space systems intended for personnel entry and rescue.

Personnel-entry equipment should be specifically selected, tested and used as part of an approved confined-space entry and rescue procedure.
